Yomi is a reading practice app for children ages 5–9 featuring a virtual cat that gets fed when kids read stories aloud. The app uses speech recognition to listen along, lets kids tap unfamiliar words to hear pronunciation, and includes a story creator tool for making custom stories. Real stories are available at three difficulty levels.
The app prioritizes child privacy and simplicity: no streaks, ads, accounts, or data collection. Available in English and Finnish on iOS.
